Welcome to The Women's Health Resource (WHR) Web Site. We hope you find this site interesting and informative. We are sure it will show you that we are a caring and compassionate medical practice that also prides itself on timely and efficient expert OB/GYN care. Our doctors and staff are extremely knowledgeable about medical and insurance issues.

All of our doctors are board-certified, meaning that we have taken rigorous exams and have been recognized as experts in our field. We also have over 100 years of medical experience in OB/GYN, making us one of the most experienced groups in the country.

Another advantage of our group is that we have male and female physicians, and a wide range of expertise in all areas of OB/GYN. In smaller groups or solo practices you only have the resources of one or two physicians, whereas in our group, you have six or seven experts partaking in your health care. You will always be seen by your doctor or one of the doctors in our group. Many solo doctors or small groups have other doctors covering them at night or on the weekend, meaning that a stranger is expected to take care of you if you have an emergency at those times.

Also, because we are a large group interested in the most up-to-date care, we have technology not available in most other practices. We do sonograms and bone density testing right in our office, which means immediate diagnosis and treatment of your problem, without having to take more time out of work to get these tests done many days later. We also do many minor procedures in our office that other doctors must do at the hospital, which increases the time and costs to you, as well as the potential for complications. And our offices are conveniently located on or near major roads with mass transportation. Our Yonkers office is handicap-accessible and has parking.

PRIVATE PRACTICE OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY

This is the oldest and largest division of The Women’s Health Resource and it was started by Neil H. Melnick, M.D. over thirty-five years ago.

The office managers and their front office assistants are ready to help you with appointments, referrals and insurance questions.

The back office staff consists of experienced medical assistants and is complimented by well trained sonogram technicians and experienced medical and laboratory assistants. The medical staff will be present during the gynecological examination, assist in office surgical procedures, answer medical questions, and perform necessary recalls and medical follow up. HIGH RISK OBSTETRICS

The Women’s Health Resource has been able to provide outstanding maternity care for women because of its very close affiliation with a group of perinatologists.

These doctors specialize in the care of high risk and complicated obstetrical problems and are affiliated with nearby university hospitals where highly specialized care is available.

Each high-risk patient is managed in direct consultation with a perinatologist throughout the antenatal course and during labor and delivery.

COMPLETE WOMEN'S IMAGING

	The Women’s Health Resource has specialized in employing immediate and scheduled imaging studies to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Patients can obtain appointments, usually within a few days, and insurance is accepted whenever possible.
Our group is one of a very few private practices to have achieved certification by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) to perform pelvic ultrasound. The program is directed by Denis T. Sconzo, M.D.
